How it works
The beginner's guide.
Written for someone who has never used a tipping service and has never used Discord. Read it once and you will know exactly what to do when a tip lands.
Join the Discord, free for a month01Getting in
- Click the invite. This link takes you to the Rory's Edge server on Discord.
- Make a Discord account if you don't have one. Discord is free. You need an email address and a password, and it works in a normal web browser. You do not have to install anything, though the phone app is handy for notifications.
- You get the free-trial role automatically. That role is what unlocks the tip channels. If the channels look empty or locked, refresh the page once. Roles occasionally take a moment to arrive.
Before your first tip: have a bookmaker account ready. Tips link to Paddy Power, Bet365, William Hill and Betway. Opening an account and getting it verified can take a while, and a tip will not wait. Do it now, while there is no rush.
02Where things are
Down the left of the server is the channel list. This is exactly what you will see:

The two analytics groups are the audit. full-audit is every single bet as it settles, winners and losers, with the price it was tipped at and the price it actually started at. The review channels are the same information added up by day, week and month. The numbers on this website come from exactly those channels. The site is not a separate set of books.
Worth doing: turn notifications on for greyhound-tips and horse-tips. Tips are time-sensitive, so it is the most useful thing a new member can do. You can leave every other channel muted if you like.
On the phone app: open the channel, tap its name at the top, tap Notifications, choose All messages. On a computer: right-click the channel, choose Notification Settings, then All Messages.
03When a tip lands
This is the important bit. A tip looks like this:

It names the track, the race time, the runner and its number (the trap for greyhounds, the saddlecloth number for horses), the price, and a stake in points: 1pt, 2pt or 3pt. Here is what to do:
- Press the link for your bookmaker. It opens that bookmaker's page for the race.
- Check the price still matches. If the tip says 4/1, only take it at 4/1 or better. If it has shortened to 7/2 or 3/1, the value that made it a tip has gone. Let it go. There will be another one.
- Place your own point size at that price, following the stake the tip gives. What a point is worth to you is explained in the next section.
- That's it. Later, the result appears in
full-auditand feeds the daily, weekly and monthly reviews automatically.
Speed matters, but a shorter price is the one mistake that undoes the whole method. Prices move within minutes, sometimes seconds, which is exactly why notifications are worth turning on. But taking a shorter price just to get on throws away the edge. Missing a tip costs nothing. Taking a bad price costs the edge.
04What point sizing means
- A point is one unit of stake. It is a percentage of a betting bank that you decide on yourself. It is not a fixed amount of money, and it is not the same number for everyone.
- Pick a bank you would be comfortable losing entirely. 1 point = 1% of it. A £500 bank makes 1pt = £5. A £2,000 bank makes 1pt = £20.
- Tips come as 1pt, 2pt or 3pt. That is the strength of the edge, nothing else. 3pt is not a "banker" or a certainty. It means the price was further ahead of the market than usual.
- Everyone stakes the same points, so everyone's results match the published figures in percentage terms, whatever size their bank is. That is why the audit is in points rather than pounds.
- Never increase stakes to chase a loss, and never bet money that is needed for anything else.
05A worked example
This tip is invented, to show the arithmetic. Say you have set aside a £500 bank, so 1pt = £5.
The tip: Monmore 19:42, trap 4 Example Runner, 2pt at 4/1.
2pt is £10 for you. 4/1 means £4 profit for every £1 staked, plus your stake back.

Someone with a £2,000 bank would have staked £40 on the same tip and won £160 or lost £40. Same points, same percentage, different pounds.
06Cash-out messages
Shortly before a race, the bot checks whether the price has moved against the bet. If the market has caught up and the value has gone, it posts a cash-out in the same channel as the tip:

Taking it is your choice: most bookmakers offer a cash-out button on the bet slip. It happens once per bet, and it is advice rather than an instruction.
07After your free month
The free-trial role lasts one month, then it is removed and the tip channels close. To keep access, the subscription is £40/month through Whop. Three steps, in this order:

What do I actually get?
Greyhound and horse racing tips posted to Discord as they are found, throughout the racing day. Each tip names the track, race time, the runner's number, the price to take, and how many points to stake.
What do 1pt, 2pt and 3pt mean?
The stake, as a percentage of whatever bankroll you choose. 1 point is the base stake; 3 points is reserved for the strongest edges. If your bankroll is £1,000 then 1pt is £10. Never stake more than you can afford to lose.
When do tips arrive?
Whenever value is found, throughout the day. Greyhound racing runs from late morning to late evening; horse racing is mostly afternoons. There is no fixed schedule. Some days are busy, some are quiet.
What is "value", and why does the average value figure matter?
A tip only goes out when a bookmaker's price is better than the true market price. Average value is how much better the tipped price was than the official starting price, on average. Consistently positive average value means you were getting a better price than the market settled at. That is the entire basis of the service.
What is a cash-out message?
Shortly before a race, the bot checks whether the price has moved against the bet. If the market has caught up, it posts a cash-out so you can take your money back rather than let the bet run. One decision per bet, and it is advice, not an instruction.
How do I know the results are honest?
Every bet is settled automatically against the official results, including the starting price, and written to an audit log, winners and losers alike. The figures on this site come straight from that log. Nothing is picked or curated.
Do I need any special account?
No. Just an account with a bookmaker: the tips are bookmaker prices. Links to Paddy Power, Bet365, William Hill and Betway go out with each tip.
What if I miss a tip?
Prices move. If the price has dropped below the tipped price, the value has gone with it. Skip that one. Never chase a shortened price.
